A brides wedding experience should be the most beautiful time in her life. However preparing for it is anything but beautiful!
So how can this bridezilla time of your life be made more peaceful? Apart from finding the venue, caterer, photographer etc, finding the perfect wedding dresses for the medley of wedding functions is the main priority for most Asian brides. At the end of the day, the main aim is to look drop dead gorgeous during your wedding!
After cutting down the ridiculously long list of ‘things to do’ to just wedding dresses, we still haven’t made life easy. An Asian bride has to consider the style, material, colour, cut, embroidery, amongst other things – and this is not just for the wedding trousseau, but also for the many other functions. This is surely overwhelming for any bride!.
Where to get inspiration? Bridal magazines, shows, exhibitions, Bollywood weddings and finally blogs like Big Fat Asian Wedding are a good starting point!
The Search: It is important to start your search with an open-mind as there are endless choices out there. You may have your mind set on a certain colour or style but you will be surprised how quickly that can change. The most important thing is to wear what you feel beautiful in, whether it is in fashion right now or not. As Yves Saint Laurent said:
“Fashion fades, style is eternal”.
So don’t be afraid to have your own style – be bold and unique!
You may also have your mind set on a colour/style that you have seen look fabulous on someone else, but this can be disastrous. It is extremely important to wear wedding dresses that complements your body and to choose colours that suit your skin complexion. But of course we are not always the best judges of ourselves, so take your close friends and family to the shops and ask for their true opinions. Just go with a fresh mind and try on all the different options, you may be surprised with better options.
Stay calm: For this process to go as smoothly as possible, you must remain calm and not lose hope!! It can be a very long process, but your search will ultimately come to an end and you will undoubtedly look stunning in your wedding dresses. Just make sure you start your search with a fresh mind and explore all your options!
